4. Speak of the Devil by Joseph Laycock
This book provides an exhaustive history of The Satanic Temple. Equal parts history and ethnography, Speak of the Devil is Laycock’s attempt to take seriously The Satanic Temple’s work to redefine religion, the nature of pluralism and religious tolerance, and what “religious freedom” means in America.

The strength of this book lies in its message of “finding self-empowerment”. It’s a fairly short, easy read, but should come after you have a solid grasp on differences between The Satanic Temple and the Church of Satan.
